BARISTA COFFEE
Project Overview
Barista Coffee is one of India’s most recognizable café brands — synonymous with warmth, creativity, and comfort. When the brand approached JDM Design, the goal was to reimagine their café interiors into a more modern, experiential, and brand-driven environment that would appeal to both young professionals and coffee enthusiasts.
The project demanded a design that captures Barista’s signature Italian coffee culture, while adapting it to an urban Indian setting — blending rustic charm, modern craftsmanship, and seamless functionality.
Our team handled the project end-to-end: from concept creation, layout planning, lighting design, and furniture detailing to on-site execution and brand identity integration.
Design Concept
The concept for Barista’s new outlet was built around the theme “The Modern Rustic Café” — a warm, welcoming environment where texture, light, and aroma work together to create a memorable experience.
We combined earthy materials like natural wood, brick, and concrete with industrial accents such as metal frames, pendant lights, and open ceilings. The result is a space that feels authentic and grounded, yet distinctly contemporary.
The café design encourages relaxation and community — with zoned seating areas, ambient lighting, and soft background acoustics that allow guests to linger comfortably.
Color palette: Terracotta, mocha brown, charcoal grey, and matte black, accented with warm lighting — reflecting the tones of freshly brewed coffee.
Material Palette & Detailing
The material selection was key in creating a distinct Barista experience:
Flooring: Rustic vitrified tiles in stone and wood finish for easy maintenance.
Walls: Exposed brick texture with clear matte PU coating, complemented by brand accent walls in orange.
Ceiling: Exposed ducting painted in matte black, with suspended pendant lights and track lighting.
Furniture: Custom solid-wood tables, metal-frame chairs, and cushioned seating in warm tones.
Lighting: LED warm white (2700K) fixtures, downlights over tables, and soft cove lights for mood control.
Signage & Graphics: Brand logos and wall art laser-cut in metal and backlit for subtle visual emphasis.
Each detail — from the menu board typography to the tile grout color — was selected to maintain consistency with Barista’s brand DNA.
Technical Coordination & Execution
As part of our turnkey design execution, we coordinated all technical aspects, including:
Electrical & lighting layouts designed for ambient and task zones.
HVAC coordination, ensuring adequate air circulation without disrupting ceiling aesthetics.
Plumbing design for coffee bar and wash area, with concealed piping and efficient drainage.
Acoustic treatments for sound control and comfort.
Fire safety compliance per NBC standards and local authority approvals.
All elements were executed under strict supervision following our Author’s Control system — ensuring every finish matched approved design samples.
